World CP Day Awards Announced

Congratulations to Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) – winners of the World CP Day 2014 Ideas Award. Their team posted a massive 81 ideas in the ‘Change My World in 1 Minute’ campaign this year.

CPAS have been strong supporters of World CP Day since its inception in 2012. Over the last 3 years they have engaged their students, staff, families and volunteers to think of ideas that would make a difference to the lives of people with CP and encouraged every idea, large or small. They are deserved winners of our $10,000 Ideas Award.

People's Choice Award

Our World CP Day 2014 People's Choice Award of $500 goes to Ekamjit Ghuman of British Columbia Canada. Her idea of an ad campaign featuring a model with CP scored 162 votes.

Ekamjit explains, “Since I strongly believe that global awareness needs to be created about CP, I feel that an ad campaign featuring a model with CP who uses who uses a walker, crutches or a wheelchair could be effective as it could spread a message within seconds and reach out to a large audience. Representation is important for people of all walks of life, including people with disabilities and that is my key message“.

Next Steps

Thank you to everyone who posted ideas, comments and votes for World CP Day 2014. An international panel of people with cerebral palsy, families and supporters will now review all of the ideas. The 3 shortlisted ideas will be announced on January 20, 2015 and the race will be on to invent them!

Our thanks to the Allergan Foundation for their generous support of World CP Day in 2013 and 2014.
